Gender Pay Gap

The recent BBC report showing the gender pay gap in the UK between men and women shows that men earn roughly 20% more than their counterparts. However, the report didn’t take into account that women between the ages of 25-49 without children were in exactly the same quantity as the childless males in the same age bracket whereas there is a sharp drop to 70% in women in employment once they have had children. After childbirth women tend to fall into low-paid part-time jobs mainly because of the lack of well-paid part-time jobs.
